We are a designated Media Arts College. Our facilities include.
- Suites of multimedia computers, along with broadband Internet access and e-mail facilities, and laptops for use in lessons.
- Professional-level digital video editing equipment.
- A stage, with a high quality lighting and sound system, and video/data projection facilities.
- A photographic lab, with enlargers, cameras, and digital graphics equipment.
- Digital music and recording equipment.
- Interactive whiteboards across the college.
We aim to equip our pupils with a sophisticated and practical understanding of the way the media of communication shape their world, and use them to provide the best teaching and learning experience we can.
Parkside was the first school in the country to gain Arts College status with media as its chosen focus, and is now in its seventh year of the programme.
We also work in partnership with the wider community: with industry, with film and media groups in Cambridge; and with community groups who might need access to media equipment or media related courses through our community programme. Local schools are also active partners in our Media programmes.
Finally, we aim to research the effects of this kind of work in schools, in partnership with Higher Education and with film and media groups; and to base our future practice on the findings of this research.
